Workmates Chris & Ilker had had enough of working for a big corporate company and decided they should set up their own enterprise.
They both took the plunge and left their company JD Wetherspoon (where they had both worked for 8 years) in 2005. Chris was the Property & Development Director and Ilker the Senior Legal Adviser.
In these roles - they single handedly aquired and built over 500 pubs for Wetherspoon (OK they had a little help from a few friends...but not much).
They realised that what the country needed wasn't lots of pubs but top notch deli cafe's in every town. They wanted to create a place where you could sit in a relaxing enviroment and listen to soothing jazz whilst eating freshly prepared salads & sandwiches whilst drinking equisite coffee.
They visited 1000's of places in a vast aray of countries and cities from the USA, Austrailia, Middle East, Thailand and utilised the best ideas and got rid of the worst and on the 12th of December 2005 Bebo was born in Welwyn Garden City!
When Ilker & Chris convinced the renowned Chef and Operator Katherina Tassell to join the senior team things moved on to a new level.
A second site in the newly developed and presigious paradise forum in Birmingham opened in May 2007 to great reviews after securing an excellent partnership agreement with world respected developers and landlard Argent plc.
Funds have now been secured to roll out the brand and a plan of 10 over the next two to three years is being developed.
